The Blood Moon rises in the East and sets in the West
I guess they drilled one too many oil wells.
They fracked the earth one too many times.
I found the real reason for the "Blood Moon"
I found the real reason for the "Blood Moon"
Smoke from northern Saskatchewan and Alberta forest fires is causing a haze over a large part of the United States.
This has some American media outlets blaming Canada for the "smoky haze" that turned the sun into a "pale orange ball in the sky."
BLOOD MOON RISES (tune of Mykonos Fleet Foxes), 54321, 898746, oooooah, ahhhh, ahhhhh
I woke up today to a clouded sky
Grey it was
Hazed it was
A sky devoid of blue
A circular object high in the sky looked down on me
An orange red color, a yummy pink color
It was my color
I reached up to
Take it down
Wear it for a dress on such a dreary day
But it stayed
Unmoved by my desire
I watched, closely, patiently
It stayed
Unimpressed
I woke up today to a clouded sky
Grey it was
Hazed it was
As was I
Touched by
The moisture that the sky squeezed out
I breathed it in
Along with the dried out sage
Familiar from my youth
The country, the weeds the wind flew back to me
Seemed wrong to change it into a sautee, or dish to eat, or flavor to contribute to a meal
That smell was a smell of memories
Of times gone by
Of life in the past
Of deserted homesteads
Not a flavor
I woke up today to a clouded sky
Grey it was
Hazed it was
And then the breeze touched my skin
The breeze that brought the sage to me
Touched my skin
Caressed the parchment spots it had become
So sweetly
The touch of a lover
The breeze
I wanted to run with the breeze to the other side of the world
Let it envelope me and bring me with it to that orb that tempted me in the sky
So I closed my eyes and dreamed a dream of times gone by
Of others tempted like
I was
I was
In that moment
To run free
To a home and hearth that I believed in
I woke up today to a clouded sky
Grey it was
Hazed it was
And I tasted blood orange as it dripped down my mouth slowly
That bitterness,
That pithy taste that only blood oranges can have
I let the syrupy drip stain my face and clothes
And felt the richness of that taste
That could only complement another
Could not stand alone
Yet I desired it today
As I looked up at my yearning
I woke up today to a clouded sky
Grey it was
Hazed it was
And the breeze I felt
and the sage I smelled
and the blood orange I tasted
and
I was not alone
I was not alone
The tree I watched grow tall over the years
Was filled with birds
That sang their quiet way into my heart
When I opened my window
When I walked out the door
Letting me know I was not alone
Letting me know the secret.
This bloody apparition was indeed
The Blood Moon that Rose in the East
But not on earth
I was not from earth
I was somewhere else
Somewhere where spirits soared, and life flourished and the earth was not punched by holes and drained of oil and broken by silica pushed into its heart to extract a spurt of black gold.
This was not earth, or if it was, they had stomach punched it one too many times, and it had been blown through a black hole into another universe, and I was the product of a different planet where the Moon actually did rise in the East and set in the West.
I woke up today to a clouded sky
And grey it was
And hazed it was
I woke up today to a clouded sky
And grey it was
And hazed it was
Cept for the Blood Moon rising in the East
Settin' in the West
Cept for the Blood Moon rising in the East
Settin' in the West
