THE WHEAT SONG
The wheat sings in the country
Sea waves of wheat
It’s whispered sibiliances
Ebb and Flow
With the tide of green
That grows in summertime
That flows as the wind blows
In ups and downs
If it were
A green ocean
I’d take my surf board
And ride across the country
I’d play with the wind
Stand atop the sheaves
And twist and turn
With the swirls
The wind paints
On its surface
I’d jump and shout
And join the wheat song
With a harmony
Embrace the life
It gave as profoundly
As the one my Mother gave to me
I’d see her once again
Those piercing eyes
Letting me know
Don’t waste the life you’re given
Ride with the wind
Smile at the Sun
Taste the Freedom
That your birth gave you
That Mother Earth gave you
The wheat doesn’t sing in the city
The ocean of green never flows that way
The ocean of green never flows that way
Its song is lost amongst
The paved roads
And houses
Whose hearts beat
At a thousand decibles
Where there is no time
For wheat lullabies
Wheat shimmers in the sun
Glows and sparkles
In a bright yellow sun
Dances with its sisters
In a symphony of sound
Its Wheat Song
